So i run this little special every couple months on my instagram page... $50 dollars off for anyone who books an event in that 24 hr period.... it works out to be about 3 to 5% off their final price and very minimal "loss" for me. But for some reason... it works like a charm. I think most people who follow me on Instagram have an idea that they want to book me for some occasion in the future... they are just busy.... procrastinating...or waiting to pull the trigger...and that little incentive lights the sufficient fire under them to jump...

I got several bookings yesterday after running it... spring and summer 2020 is shaping up nicely!

ps- i delete it after 24 hours...so new clients dont see it and ask for it...lol
 
Rick you said smart man. Nice idea but I don't see bookings jumping threw the roof because of this. I don't see people rushing to book him because he's saving them $50 by booking with him. I don't know what your rates are but I doubt a $50 coupon has you getting a rush of bookings in 24 hours. It's got to be more than just that.

You seem to have no concept of social media....or a referral based business... or pretty much anything about the dj business except chasing down 2nd hand speakers. And if you comprehended math you could tell in my original post my rates vs the 50 dollar discount....infact u missed the entire point of the post...the fact that such a minimal discount actually works when you have a social media influence on your referral army you establish over the years in this business... one of my bookings was a lady i met at a recent party who immediately had followed my instagram account and after seeing my colorful artwork promoting the deal jumped at the chance to book the party she had been preliminarily planning for july 2020. Another booking was a lady who's a friend of a client and was referred to check us out and take part in the deal. They booked for May 2020. 2 other bookings were clients who booked with me last year and just wanted to grab a 2020 date for parties they have no particular theme for yet....

This business is about more than amps ...subs...and church basement/backyard gigs done for "exposure"...the sooner you begin to understand the sooner you can break even

You missed it. You had to do more than just offer it $50 discount. I get that offering the discount helps with people contacting but that doesn't mean they will book you because of the $50 discount. You still have to sell yourself. So kudos on selling yourself.

No.. you missed it. He's literally saying it's working for him.
 
I fully recommend trying a little something like this from time to time to your social media platforms...

its like fishing the same pond for a while... at some point your tired old worms become stale to the fish in that environment...and introducing some small change...be it lure or bait to their environment sorta jolts them awake.

Perhaps a client wants to plan an event... but simply hasnt found a moment to sit down and make the needed plans... suddenly they see your incentive come across their feed and it gives them that needed final push. Its not even that 50 dollars means a whole lot to anyone involved...but clients figure...hey...why not...im planning on booking them anyway... might as well book today and shave off 50 dollars.
