Note the black bar over Gingers right eye. Doesn't matter if I change the background - it's always there, but it can be in a different place on the screen when I reboot.

I can't move it, I can place icons over it. It's not visible if I run a program, and the mouse seems to work fine in that area.

I know a few of you are real computer gurus, so before I reinvent the wheel, what do you think?

I had that happen on an install of either Windows ME or 2K I never did figure it out. Eventually I formatted and it went away

Another little piece to the puzzle. If I right click on the Windows icon in the Taskbar and then click "Desktop", it goes away. If I do that again, it comes back!!

Sounds like an issue with the video card or video RAM ..

Might want to update the driver. Also check your physical connections. If you change resolution, what happens? A recent W10 update could have messed up your drivers - I've seen some wonky things recently (touch screen stops working, usb devices are gone, etc) - all because of the update. Resolution - reload mfr drivers.

"Self Inflicted Injury"

Due to boredom, I've spent a lot more time on Facebook than normal - mostly on "Marketplace" (where I scored both a Rane SL2 and a Denon DS1 sound card, cheap, with Timecode LP's and CD's). So, I see this Facebook Ad for a free version of "Polarr" photo editor. Being a lousy photgrapher, and always looking for something that might improve my crummy images, I downloaded it. Long story short, it tries to install another NetService - which Windows prevents - but the black rectangle is probably a message Polarr is trying to put on the Desktop. I've totally disabled any vestiges of that NetService and the black rectangle is gone.

I've been playing around with both the SL2 and the DS1 on Serato, using my DJ2GO as a midi controller and my old Numark DM950 mixer. Boy, I sure do miss the "Cue Fader" it has, which IMHO is absolutely superior to pushing buttons.
