Nice, I have redo my card over. I didn’t realize how old they were until I noticed it still had my old phone number. It forwards to my cell so that’s ok. I used Vistaprint & now they don’t full color two sided folded cards anymore otherwise I’d just update & reorder. Now it’s a full blown project to redo them. Although yes there is digital but you’ll just need physical cards. One case is for raffles, at the DJ expo some all digital guys were putting in their drivers license & credit cards because they didn’t have any business cards. I keep a stack of old business cards with me just to throw in raffles.

I'm pretty sure they DO two sided cards.

How much does the 'etc' cost?

Shipping and tax added about 6-bucks.

It’s actually a 2 sided & folded and glossy on the outside so that makes it a little some complicated. I’ll get to work on selecting another vendor after my busy season. But in retrospect, running out of business cards is a good thing that meant you gave them all out. I’ve got a crap load of obsolete postcards from years ago as back then you had to print them in the large quantities. My first color photo business was a PIA to get done in the early 90s in but it did get me some mentioned in Mobile Beat back then. Well worth money I laid out.for them.

I never saw biz cards as a sales tool. In most cases, I am giving them to people who are already interested in me. So it's more of a way to give someone my contact info. But that's just me.

Mobile Beat...
now you're dating yourself.
(or maybe OUTdating yourself)

Don't use business cards anymore. I direct everyone to my instagram. I've come to the conclusion that the only people that ask for bsuiness cards are older people who in reality have no need for the services I provide and are not my target market. Younger people know how to find information if they need it. I bought one set of business cards of about 100 back in 2017 and still have a solid 50+ remaining. My business card literally just has my logo and my website, nothing else.

I Agree with that. The only reason I purchased 500 business cards a couple years ago is because of venue open house events I was doing. I won't place another business card order again. I have a lot of them so I will have them around for a long time to come.

I actually started way before Mobile Beat, before Dance Music Report. My first trade mag was Billboard & a couple other Disco Mags which out in the 1970s. I’m going into my 48th year. I deal with a lot of older staff & people so especially when networking a good card starts a conversation & getting passed around. Yes young people might not asked for them. But Directors are older, the ones who control the $$$ & one request me. Even better are my photo books which I leave that my key locations. Those get passed around like crazy

You have those business cards to direct a potential client to your online website and online pages so they get a great look at what you do. For the price you charge just handing a business card wouldn't be enough to convince them to book you.

So what’s the wise Crack about an older client isn't a person you target to? What if an older person wanted to book you and willing to pay the price you quote, would you do the event for them? LOL. I do get it. Not a lot of older people are getting married. Either they are already married or not that many are getting remarried looking for a DJ.

Yes, that's what the business cards do... but realistically I don't need business cards to make that happen. Younger generations, say 45 and under, just need google. It also has nothing to do with the price I charge... people just don't need to get business cards in order to connect with them. Some people ask their friends who their dj was, some people take a picture of my laptop, some just add me on instagram, etc... everything but ask for a business card.

Older people are not my target market, not because they're old, but because they're not hosting the types of events where they're willing to make the investment that would make me an attractive option. And if they are willing to spend money, they're more likely to want someone closer to their age than me whose a whole generation younger. Do I book clients that are 50+ years old... absolutely... but it's literally maybe 1 event a year that I do and it's usually because they have a lot of younger guests there too. Whereas the 25-40yr old crowd is my prime market. They're primarily hosting weddings which many are willing to make a significant investment, but I'm also they're go to choice if they're hosting a 30th or 40th bday where they're trying to go above and beyond to make it special. For example, I did a 30th and 40th bday the last 2 months, each earning over $3000... not bad for a bday party. None of these parties were a result of me providing business cards.

I don't consider the comment about older clients a "wise crack".
I responded "That's ME" because I do mostly events for older crowds now.
They are not afraid to embrace OLD technology like BUSINESS CARDS.

You’re right! And essentially this is what it’s all about in the end… knowing and identifying your target market, and knowing how to properly reach out to them. Older people do well with business cards… younger people need to be reached differently.

I still carry them since I occasionally get asked for one. But I ordered 1000 when I started Bela Sono in 2015 and I'll likely never reorder.

I used Moo for my club branded cards and only ordered 50, I think.

If I were ordering today I'd use a much smaller number of really high quality cards. People can feel when your card is heavy cardstock versus something flimsy and I think there is a psychological impact in terms of brand.
