I have a mother who would like to join in and refuses to add the call via her iPhone, even though it's super easy. She seemed rather irritated, so I am looking into options.

Does anybody have a favorite site or a free service to do this with?

The mother complained that I am the most expensive vendor, and was surprised that I didn't have a separate phone number to conference into. lol

Thanks in advance!

You can call out to her and add her in instead.

that doesn't help, b/c the couple is the first call, so they would have to do it.

ha, their mother.

I will check into Uber Conference. Hopefully the client does not need an app as that would be even more complicated. They just want a phone number to "call into."

No .. if you sign up they assign you a phone number (I live in CT, but my number is in MA) and a pin .. anyone can call in once you start a meeting from any phone.

The paid plan gets a more local number and other features.

This is why I always do video chat or In person meetings. When it comes to calls everyone wants to just drop in.

Me too.. I recommended Skype/Facetime as the couple is out of state.

It seemed as if they are still wanting a number to call into as "that is what the other vendors are doing."

I mention before the booking that the finalization has to alway be done through facetime/skype or in person. Unlike other vendors, it is very important for our meeting to be done this way so we can make sure we're always on the same page, including playing back songs, showing pictures or videos if needed, and also being able to seeing visual reactions to what is being discussed. A phone call doesn't always allow information to be expressed and relayed the best, and that is why I always do my finalizations like this.

good tip. I will add that to my "friendly reminder email," which includes payment, among other important things.

So..... the couple can't call you...
and just let Mom listen in on their speaker phone?

Or is mom not close to them?

How arrogant are these people? It's bad enough they're going to tell you how to do your job, but also tell you how to run your business too? I thank my ever-lovin' lucky stars that this type of consumer interaction has not happened in my playground.

Good luck on however you handle it.

I had a chance to reflect on this a bit more carefully.

Generally, everybody is excited and wanting nothing but the best for the couple. When this "type" or "style" of attitude presents itself, especially when the attitude is coming from someone who doesn't know you, you best believe there's something else going on behind the scenes you're not privy to.

When barriers begin to be erected, it would be worth-while to dig a little deeper and find out where the resentment lies. Mom wants a band? Mom has her own DJ choice? Mom doesn't like the son-in-law-to-be and will make every step a nightmare? Daughter is being a bridezilla to her own mother?

In other words, dig a little, watch out for more landmines, and trust your instincts before generating a contract.

Mom lives in a different state. Yes, the option is to call the mother, and then call the couple, but the couple (both of them) are not together, so it would be a conference of a conference,

They are looking for a way to dial in so everyone is connected. Apparently, I am the only vendor who can't arrange this. I am just looking for options. I have never run into the situation before, and normally would do anything to avoid something like this from happening, but I am willing to look into options so I don't seem like I don't care.
