As I was reading Rick and Randy's thread about Facebook marketing. It dawned on me that while they pretty much mastered a formula that works Facebook is definitely old news I'd guess for a majority of today's brides-to-be.

The young to mid twenty somethings are all over Twitter and Instagram.

While I just don't get Twitter it's become a powerful marketing tool to engage younger folks.

I've read a few articles about marketing via Instagram for relevant businesses (where a picture really sells it think hair salons, bakeries, etc).

Pintrest seems pretty spread out demographically but I have seen brides-to-be pinning ideas.

Does anyone run campaigns on these sites? The key for any social media marketing is for the material to be (or at least sound) genuine and less like a sales pitch. I think young to mid 20 demographic sensitive to the onslaught of advertising crammed down their throats every day. Every one expects to see advertising and paid plugs on Facebook not so much on other networks.

Ultimately we should be all posting across several platforms I don't suspect most of us do. There's two ways to do it in my mind either get real good at one or use software to to the job for you. I've had a look at Sprout Social and it can be of great assistance but is a bit pricey unless you are dedicated to a social media campaign it may not be worth it.

There are several others that don't have the horsepower SS has but will work for the average user. The only downside is all your social media posts will be the same

That's an area I've looked into, but at this time I haven't took it any further. My boosts in FB are still getting great response from the 18-24 crowd, my target clientele. I don't quite yet agree that FB is old news.

Facebook is far from dead. Facebook is the most powerful marketing tool I have ever had at my disposal. I've ran campaigns for events I have put on and it worked spectacular. As for day to day business I've never taken out a paid ad but I've generated more business through my Facebook group and referrals through there than anything I have ever paid for

I would agree!

I've heard of these things called "bulletin boards" that might me the next big thing.
I hear you'll be able to dial into each different board individually at a blazing 9600 bps in the near future.

All kidding aside, I'm likely reading to many articles written 20-something self-proclaimed social media experts. I've spent so much time on forums that I usually take into account the author to gauge how much weight I should give the writing.

Maybe we're not completely there yet but I see Facebook declining with the younger 'in crowd/trendsetters'. As the number of grandmas registering goes up the number of younger folks registering goes down. You will still be able to sell to the middle of the pack sort of people for a long while and there's nothing wrong that as that is where the majority of your customers are.

I think it will be more that there are so many choices it will water everything down. It seems there is a new social network every few days. I found out something interesting today though Instagram isn't even in the top 5 anymore I thought it was number 3 previously

I received a message today on Facebook from a lady that I played her wedding 10 years ago. I hadn't heard from her since and she tracked me down on Facebook rather than call or email. She's mid 30's now and that's her choice of communication
