Anyone thought of doing this at a wedding?

OK, There are several photo booth packages out there...

They're all super expensive..

well, I found a couple that are not...

the first is a program called mugshot machine... just google that.. it's a freeware mac software.. but honestly, for what an inexpensive mac would cost, you're still way under a grand...

The second is an option that I'm working on.. it is a little more expensive, but also a bit more sophisticated...

it's basically using a proprietary software and can control a Canon or Nikon DSLR..

as for the booth, you can build anything you want...

you could even just set the guts on a table with a big push button to activate it, and have folks stand in front of a backdrop like at the prom...

pretty wild!

How is this coming along Steve? Have you used yours again?

One of the schools we worked at in January had a photo booth. They paid I think $1150 for it for the night. It was a big hit. This was a semi formal winter dance; not a huge attendance. Never saw it in action as it was in the lobby and I wasn't....client liked it though.

I love it!

Just finished my latest one....

Works like a Champ, and unlike the extremely expensive, yet flimsy and consumer grade ones you see at the Dj shows, This uses a Commercial Dye Sub Sony printer, and 10 mega-pixel canon DSLR.

Great job Steve!

Do you mind telling us approx. how much $ it took to DIY?

OK Steve we need details. That is awesome looking.

Materials:
Total cost:
Time involved:
Detailed plans:
Upsell price:

Nicely done!:sqwink:

I think I remember seeing on his site it was $899/3 hours?

total price $1600, but I sourced things on the used market. You could substitute printers for ones like the ones in the ones people are selling now and possibly save a pile.

I bought 3 printers and setups from an auction house that was selling clinique makeover kiosks from the old Rich's dept. stores. They're usually about $2000 for the printer alone.

consumables per event $100

it's an ikea shelf unit covered in coroplast. (corrugated plastic sign material.)

total weight around 30 lbs for the front (just a guess... it's light)

back is feather light.

That's all the info I wish to divulge for obvious reasons... the industrious sorts here would have no prob building one on your own.

I'm building a shippable unit now, so I may have one available for rentals to certain people relatively soon. shipping runs about $200 from what I can tell so far. Will be a nice profit margin add on for those who don't want to dump a **** ton of money into their own unit. depending on the markup you decide to add, it could be good for another $500 on your event for doing basically nothing.

I'll keep you informed.

Steve,
I understand about the information so thanks for what you provided. The building is doable it's the inner workings that would confuse the hell out of me.
