Anyone Own The ETV/Promo Only Platinum Series ?

It's a better than reasonable assumption then that the video discs I viewed were knockoffs, as many of the eBay offerings are.

Is there a track listing somewhere for the Platinum Series? I had heard about years back, but it was always talked about like a unicorn. I'm not as interested in actually buying the set as just knowing what was on it.

No unicorns, the Plat Series has been (and still is)my go to wedding library for 0ver 20 years. Back in the mid 90's, Promo Only first released Vol. 1-20 then not long after V0l. 21-40. It was great back in the day if you were able to get your hands on one, I was lucky and got 2. Then came the licensing issues. From my understanding, Promo Only was having another company (who I won't name)supposedly take care of the legal end and they didn't. So both companies settled out of court and life went on.

The 20/40 series set came in a book with 9 pages with the music organized by genre then bpm or artist or title. I placed all mine in univenture sleeves for convenience but here is a pic of my worn out reference guide.

Steve it depends on how great your need is. How everything is moving to HD quality or better so in that respect I would say I no. I'm in the process of replacing each track from the collection with a better copy. I can't imagine how bad it would look and sound on my 4K TV or in HD. I gotten rid of all of my movies on videotape. Unwatchable now.

I don't normally do videos .. it would be mainly for casual parties and either on a smaller 32" monitor or projected (my projector is not full HD).

I was one of the few that purchased the Platinum Series back in the day. I ended up re-ripping at the discs to a better bitrate.

A month after I purchased, it became illegal for them to sell. Good timing on my part.

Hey DJs. I have been working to get out the the DJ business, I have been in it for 35+ years so I have accumulated a lot of net music. I have two of the
Promo Only Platinum Series 40 CD Collection that I am looking to sell. They are the original version that I purchased in the 1990's not copies. If you or someone you know are interested in purchasing these send me an e-mail [email protected]. We can discuss. Thanks

Wow, are they pressed discs? I had gotten a CD-R set from the former president of ETV (they partnered with PO on putting out the set apparently). He said they were leftover from their stock of courtesy replacements for people who had purchased the set, looked just like those but had inkjet printed labels obviously. I've never seen an original set anywhere.
I bought a set from the same guy......they played on a cheap portable single disc CD player, but when I went to use them in my Numark CD Mix 2 (CD Players/Mixer combo) none of them would play and the player locked up and i had to turn the system off and back on just to get the CD out....could not figure at why? Any suggestions?

I've got 2 sets I received from Promo Only back in the 90's. They released 1-20 first, then later released 21-40. Even though the set is dated, still some classics tunes.
Hi - I actually got the Platinum Series set of 40 Discs from the guy "socotrading" also and they play on a cheap single disc player but my 20 year old Numark combined CD/Mixer won't read any of the discs. Do you know anyone else selling a set? I'm an old DJ and still use CD's. Thanks!

If your Numark won't read any discs, then you have a faulty system. If it won't read these particular discs, some systems (especially older systems) have problems reading home made discs / bootlegs.

Thanks. Yes it reads other copied CD’s just not this set. I suspect the issue is the Numark. Thanks again

Does anyone by chance know where I can find the corresponding song listing/title/artist/genre catalog for the 40 disc platinum series set? I feel like I saw it on line (digital copy) somewhere but now I can't locate it?

Man, I haven't participated on this forum in several years (stopped doing weddings in 2017) but you're in luck -- I still get email notifications on thread replies! Here you go.
