Anyone have any cool gear they picked up recently?

As I mentioned in another thread I bought 2 Laptops this summer an Asus and an Acer both 17" i5s. Other than that it's has been just wires and extension cords.

Still toying with new speakers I am leaning toward the Evolve 30 or 50

Okay this is consumer grade so don't shoot me. :moncool: I bought the Air Pods Pro. These things are like magic. Granted they're the first pair of noise cancelling headphones I've owned; so I have nothing to compare them to but when I first popped them in to pair, I genuinely thought the power went out because I couldn't hear my AC or fan over the low music.

This is awesome I can listen to them much lower and stop putting the miles on my ears that are already wrecked. With it in 'transparency mode' or whatever I can hear the TV in the next room clear as a bell over my fan and AC. That's gonna be useful when I get back to walking.

Every time I use them I think of the Walt Disney quote: Any sufficiently advanced technology appears to be magic (something along those lines). They jump between my phone, tablet, and watch seamlessly.

Now all I need is a MacBook to be really fancy. :D

I got a new laptop a few months ago, not for disc-jocking , a few keys on my old one were starting to go out , and its not an item that can be easily swapped out, still a good laptop , it will now become full time DJ and back up laptop.

I will be buying some new domain names and website theme for the rebranding soon, that counts right ?

I have a list of stuff I want to buy :D

this years big purchases included:

- 40 new uplights
- brand new dj booth (can't wait for this)
because i got the new booth, i had to duplicate some stuff like mic receivers (2x qlxd), power conditioners, mixers, wires, etc
the new photo booth (salsa) back in the spring
additional sparklers in winter 2022
bose sl1 pro for cocktail hours

i think I did enough for this year... next year I'm thinking its time to upgrade the macbook pro's and maybe get a new smaller sound system for events of under 250 ppl... since the pandemic, I just haven't been doing enough big room events to justify carrying my current system every time.

Nothing big:

I got a Table Top Facade Bag. The Pro X one for $39.99 on IDJNOW.COM. A White 4 ft Ultimate Stands Table Cloth, and two pairs of Gravity Cable Clips.

I will eventually buy 4 new wireless Up Lights. I will either buy Rockville brand lights, or rainbow lights brand.

Also, I am going to buy a new Laptop, but don't need one just yet. I do plan on buying it by the end of November. Just waiting for the right deal to come along on a high powered machine.

Also, not DJ Gear related, but I will soon be buying a pre owned Galaxy S10 or S10 plus phone. My google Pixel 3XL phone is in it's final months as my current phone

The latest thing in was a Juice Box EV charger. My wife thought it was a juicer, now I don’t know if she was joking or not but it was too funny. She crazy busy with work & her mom isn’t doing well, she get a pass.
Only other item was a GoPro Max 360 camera. I am still figuring out editing the 360 videos but it’s absolutely freaky how it captures in everything in view in 360 videos & pictures. It is also perfect for wide angle shots. I used it at the auto show, everyone‘s stepping back to try to get everything it, I don’t.

Gonna give us any hints on your new dj booth?

This year I upgraded to a pair of RCF J8 column array speakers, a new pair of Reloop 700 MKII turntables, Phase wireless needles and now I am upgrading to wireless up lighting. I'm going with the Rockville Rockwedges. I just recently got a replacement Rane Seventy under warranty as well. Not counting cables, stands and my laptop, my whole rig is brand new. I was long over due for an upgrade and it had been a while since I seriously invested in my gear so I went all out as far as my budget would allow. I really want my last few purchases to be the rest of my uplights. I think I have about $600 more left to spend then I'm done.

I've picked up a few things over the last couple of months.... I'm still building my business, so this is all net new to me, not really replacing anything.
1. Bose S1 Pro for ceremonies and cocktail hours if needed. (my goal is to have a completely battery powered/lightweight ceremony setup)
2. Backpack for my Bose S1 - not the Bose one... I got an idea from YouTube and found a cooler backpack on Amazon for like $35 bucks. Works great, and has padding and extra room for cables, tablet, mics, and more.
3. Sennheiser XSW-D xlr lavalier mic. Wanted a lav mic for my ceremony setup that was lightweight. This is it. (may also get a transmitter for handheld mic). 1659968132124.png

I've added two JMaz Cold Spark units recently (going out for the first time on 8/27)

And I shared this in another thread about DMX but I bought the ADJ WMX1 (Wolfmix in the UK) which got brought up in this forum a couple years ago if I recall. That one is going out for the first time this coming Saturday to run some dance floor lights for me.

And then on the personal side I bought a Schecter electric guitar and Boss Katana amp earlier this year to fiddle around with.

That'll probably be it for this year on gear. I think I've got a couple more years in the tank at this pace before I slow down quite a bit. So I'm trying to be fairly judicious about where I make big investments.
