I’ve been taking my son to the city showing him the sights, inexpensive eats and checking out the different types of movie theaters. We hit the Staten Island ferry for some great views of the Statue of Liberty and lower Manhattan. Then checked out NYU, surrounding area and got some Belgian fries(been trying to get there for 2 tears) before heading up to 42nd St to catch a movie. So we’ve seeing movies in IMAX, IMAX 3-D, and Real 3-D, so this time we decided to try AMC Prime. What they did is beside crystal clear digital picture they put rumblers in the reclining seats and really upped the ultra-low frequencies. So during those high impact Movie scenes, you actually feel and hear the movie without it being too loud. Bryan pointed out speakers all over the theater including the ceiling. I have to say this is the best sound I’ve heard and felt in a movie theater. In the IMAX theater the sound is really good but what AMC Prime does with rumblers and ultra-low Frequencies makes it so you feel the movie all over. I was impressed, I could swear I could feel some of the impacts actually hit me. Next time are going to try out Dolby Cinema theater and IMAX with laser. I’m still trying to figure out what that one is. I’m assuming they are using a laser video projector.
