I'm assuming the TX series is a lower end version but does anybody know the real difference?
Quality... what Steve said and just overall quality. I’ve had Truesonic speakers in the past; 10’s and 12’s. I thought they sounded EXCELLENT! I still have my TX 8’s, which I use as monitors for the very rare instances that I need monitors. The TX’s are just OK, but nowhere near as crisp and clear as my TS110’s.I'm assuming the TX series is a lower end version but does anybody know the real difference?
I have speakers installed in the eaves of my back patio. I had to replace them every couple of years, until I replaced them with MARINE (boat) speakers. I got 8 years out of the last pair, and really only one was bad, so I still have it. The newest pair have been up there for four or five years now, and still sound good. They actually sound decent and full the back yard easily. When I want BIG sound, I bring out my DJ gear. Thanks for the input guys. I went ahead and ordered a TX210 to use on my back patio. I know it'll get destroyed from the elements, but for $130, if I can get a year or two out of it, I'm thrilled. It's going to be run at very low volume and, surely, it's going to sound much better than the Radio Shack speaker I have sitting out there currently.
I'm not sure one can use "Harbinger" and "better" in the same sentence ..I heard the TX210 speakers at Guitar Center. They sound pretty sharp for a cheap budget speaker. They get loud, but only about 60% as loud as a TX310 speaker could get before clipping. I suppose the TX210 is almost comparable to the original TS110A 10" speakers, but still not quite as rugged or as loud as my old 110s can get, but the TX 210s come close. The TX series speakers are very light weight, and have a good look to them. I would certainly use them for ceremony, or cocktail hour. They would be fine for that for me, and even for smaller events. ....For the price range, I don't think you could find a better powered speaker. Maybe the Harbinger Vari Speakers when they have that $100 off sale, but I don't see anything else out in that range that is worth the purchase.
I think it's a good purchase for what you are doing with it.

Wanted to report back in. I got a TX210 in yesterday and installed it on the back patio of the venue. It's perfect. Sounds beautiful and I'm only running it at about 25% power. The unit only has a single channel on it and no push buttons for eq or line level. It's rated at 300 watts so not something you could use as a main but it works perfectly for my application, as well as for ceremony duty. At $150, it's also a value.
