My wife and I were joking around about an upcoming wedding where there is going to be a money dance. I said that with inflation, that maybe it should be a credit-card dance. Heck maybe PayPal, Venmo and Zelle, Tile, Square, et. al. should be accepted too. Then I thought, perhaps this is already being done somewhere. I haven't heard it discussed here though. Have any of you seen this done?

Long ago back in time the dance was a dollar dance and now the money dance.😁 maybe the twenty dollar dance today??
We are going to have to carry cash so as to make change for the $50 & $100 bills!

I did one about a month ago. I usually make a contest out of it and have the money counted to see who "won". Whoever raises the most money gets a foot rub for the next month by the loser. It surprised me that they both raised right at $850 each. The groom edged her out by just a few dollars.

There are few traditions at a wedding that make me more uncomfortable than having to do a money dance. I realize it's tradition in some cultures... but yuck.

I agree. I never liked doing them. Their popularity has also declined about 98% at least with the weddings I do today compared to the weddings I was doing in 2006. Even with families where this was/is still a tradition, the couples seem to opt to not do the dance. I even had a couple of weddings in the last year or two where it was on the schedule, and the couple opted during the reception not to bother with it! I think this is one of the money traditions that started to die with the Millennial generation, and now Gen Z is killing the tradition off.

I'm sure the tradition will live on with cultural/deep ethnic weddings, but it has already become pretty rare to see it occur at weddings...at least here in the DMV.
