Since I'm in Alabama without my gear (will get it this coming weekend), I decided to waste a few coins and ordered this Pyle (cough, cough) Super 55 knock off.

Now before you say it, I feel the same about the Pyle name brand as the rest of you do. Cheap junk. This is a plastic mic and I didn't expect much after un-boxing it. However, after plugging it in, I have to admit I was surprised by how good is actually sounds. I haven't used it on a gig but will say that I don't feel bad about the purchase. Will just let it sit in the venue and may use it later. I've been using a Super Beta 55 for several years and will say that everyone digs it. This one looks a lot like it and at 1/10th the cost. YMMV.

While I have found actual good deals among cheap brands (Behringer Shark, Rockville RockWedge), I have normally found that cheap stuff normally ends up in the crap pile.

I also have a Super 55 and singers love it ..

I usually put the 55 on a stand (for toasts) and have had it knocked over a time or two. Having this one knocked over and destroyed doesn't make my butt pucker near as much.

Most cheap mics aren't bad or at least better than you would expect and unless they are manhandled they can go a long distance. i always have a couple of cheap ones in the kit in case I need them
 
Yea .. if you shop around, the Super 55 Deluxe can be found for $189 at KPODJ.com and less than $180 at northerrnsoundandlight.com. The 55SH (which is more like the Pyle unit) is less at $145.

For something that visible, I wouldn't put my reputation at stake for $110 .. or even the $150 .. maybe for karaoke ...
