I have a 60th birthday party next week thats going to be about 75 people and outside.... Have the Power and canopy all ready planned - but would love ideas on the play list.

Thinking that this is core disco age with a small mix of the 80s and some sinatra & swing. Its a surprise party so I can't ask the birthday boy for what he wants to hear and the organizer is leaving it all to me....

What do you think?

General suggestions and specific songs would be REALLY appreciated!

40 years ago, when the BD boy was 20, was 1967 the Summer Of Love... Hippies, Free Love, Stop The War.... when he was 22, in 1969 would have been Woodstock...

42 years ago when her got outa high school wopuld have been 1965.... Beatles, Rolling Stones, Beach Boys, Classic Rock....

Don't think Disco as much

Dont' forget..."Motown"....

Diana Ross/Supremes
Temptations
Four Tops
Smokey Robinson/Miracles
Marvin Gaye
etc. etc.

You might consider some of the "Pop" from those eras also.

Lulu
Petula Clark
Tom Jones
Englebert Humperdink
etc. etc.

Don't forget "Johnny Rivers" :)

Surprise 'em with some Sonny James (Young Love), Sam Cooke (Havin' A Party) and Bobby Vinton (I Love How You Love Me). These songs never fail. :)

You may wish to check out the dMarie time capsule. There you may enter a date and get info on the guest of honor's birthday date. For kicks, look up the b-day date in 10 year increments.

Hope it helps.

Um, I think you aren't hitting this right, IMO... core disco age would be 48 - 55. I'm a disco FREAK, and I will be 45 next week. But, that said, disco would be appreciated, I bet....

Don't forget some MOTOWN!
