I just thought of something. Let me ask this question. Can any of you give a rough idea of how much gear you have and what it's worth? I can't say because we have a lot of gear. Now weather or not we need everything we have is not the issue. The thing is we have it.

Now for those who question what we use certain things for, we have been in a room that is a large gym or room that is very big and just 2 regular tops won't do any good. It won't be enough sound for a super large room.

5 days ago. July 4th. Annual event for a 20 year client.
Congrats on the event you've done for the last 20 years. I got to ask where there any restrictions considering the situation we're in today?

First year with new management staff. My friend of 20 years retired to new ventures.

If the situation you refer to is the absurd, tyrannical, fear mongering, covid/woke BS, then here's what I witnessed:

Yes the food service staff was wearing gloves and face masks but the attendees were allowed to make their own responsible and mature decisions. Only a few choose to wear a mask, 2 elderly and one Karen. Everyone else was either social distancing or behaving in normal, polite, considerate ways that impede transmission of bodily fluids from one person to another, you know, normal, considerate, decent behavior. Seemed to go well.

I guess we'll find out within the next 2 weeks .. :)
Pathetic, just pathetic. Keep living your lives pursuant to the repeatedly FAILED science that is being used to destroy our freedoms.

In a related matter, 4 weeks ago I performed for a wedding with 150 attendees and NO ONE, NOT ANYONE, NOT A SINGLE INDIVIDUAL reported to have contracted or possibly transmitted ANY diseases.

... what mobile DJ do you know spending 5k for a wireless microphone system?
This one does, because it makes no sense for me to buy a mic that is ONLY capable of doing DJ gigs. For a wedding, Shure, (pun intented) I could use a $500 DJ class mic, but most of mine have all aged out of their spectrum space and my event type and clients have changed and grown quite a bit. That $500 would be better put toward something I can use at ANY kind of event.

It's also not just the mics - it's power distribution, antenna network and directional antenna systems. The mics have to work in very busy wireless environments. Even when I personally might only be responsible for two microphones they have to work over larger distances and in very crowded RF bands. It's not like a DJ gig where you're generally the person speaking on the mic and could adjust or compensate for some technical weakness. If the person holding the mic is a dignitary at some important meeting or live press conference - the mic has to work perfectly every time.

I wouldn't recommend buying anything in 2.4. Way too much using that these days, and stuff like wifi, microwave ovens, etc. aren't constant-use, so feedback isn't likely apparent right away and will occur at worst possible time.

In general I'd agree, but those do a decent job of frequency hopping to avoid issues.

Yea, I've been posting about this for the past few years ..

Ignoring the "can't use it if it's tunable outside the gap/guard bands" for a moment, there actually supposed to be 2 bands usable for unlicensed mics .. a guard band at 614-616 MHz, and a dual gap band at 652-663 MHz with unlicensed and WSD use between 657-663 MHz.

I'm going to stick with my AT3000 systems in that space for now. I have a couple mics that will work in the 500MHz space, but I like the AT3000 units and generally don't have a need for more than 1.
I am aware I am bringing back a very old and dead thread to life, CLEAR!

I checked my mics, and they have range a of 610-670, in theory it could be possible to use them in that in that gap band?

I would probably be better off just buying a new system instead of trying to use my mics in a very small gap and hope there are no issues.

To be legit, you should buy new mics. However, if you rarely obey the speed limit, that would be some indication that you will tolerate some risk. If you use your tunable mics in the duplex gap, you will probably never get in trouble. I just wouldn't book any gigs for FCC employees.

I tested them last night, and I am able to tune them in all of the open gaps.

I still think the best bet would be to get new mics moving forward.
