I missed this sale. If anyone hears of this model iPad being offered again (for the Holidays) at the $299 price, PLEASE post here again, although it still might not help me - I'm on a cruise ship from November 24th to Dec 1st, which includes Black Friday.

I have 2 of these at every event. One is for hot back up and the other I use for Mcing.

MC'ing? What, like names of the Wedding Party, what happens and at what time - stuff like that??
Exactly. I use an app called teleprompter+ for all of my introductions, announcements, time lines, etc.
Can have big bold font, scrolling if wanted. Easy to edit last minute as I line up bridal party. Much better than trying to read paper in a dim room with scratched in notes. D59087F4-6CC5-4360-97C9-ECCA007B6C95.jpeg

That is very cool!

I'm presently looking for an iPad for a completely different reason. At the ripe old age of 73, I've decided to do something that is incredibly difficult - learn to play the violin! There is a private Facebook group - Adult Violin Learners - where you can upload vids of yourself and get critiqued. I borrowed my wife's iPad and found out that it is extremely helpful to have the iPod + camera on all the time you practice (it's like standing in front of a mirror), so I need to get my own.

We have had two coyote's working our neighborhood - I think they already left!

If you don't need it for playback, then get the 32Gb version for $50 less. Once you upload videos to FB or YT, you can delete them.

I think for $50, the extra storage is ALWAYS worth it.

Wow .. I'm completely intrigued here. :)
Once upon a time, back when the dinosaur's roamed the earth, I saw Ruggiero Ricci in recital at a local high school auditorium. He came walking out on a stage, towel on his left shoulder with a bazillion dollar violin sitting on top of it, and proceeded to beat the living sheeet out of it. I swear it looked - and sounded - like he was trying to cut it in half! It left an impression - something I always wanted to try - but I don't see Carnegie Hall in my future!

Just looked .. BB has it for $430 .. it's closer to $310 if you get the 4G enabled version and commit to 2 years service. It may well go back to $299 for BF.

I've always liked the sound of a violin / fiddle - and have seen many players excel at it - to include (specifically fiddle) Charlie Daniels, Mark O' Connor and others. While I'd love to try to get even 1/100th as good, I feel it would take so long to achieve it. I'd still love to try. I have no idea how to play a guitar anywhere near good ... but I have a few to mess with.

You've got your two hands doing two completely different things and no frets, but I've learned enough to know it's actually controlling the bow that's most important - and the hardest to do.

Remember, I'm retired and have the time, plus it gets dark early at night. DJ'ing for me is also starting to wind down. Turning 50 was no problem because I felt myself slow down for the first time at 49. Last year at 72 I felt it again. I DJ'd this past Saturday, had an absolute ball, but paid the price the next day. Hey, nothing's forever!
