As you know, I'm always on the lookout for ways to diversify but photography isn't one of them. First off, it takes a lot to get even decently tooled-up but even that's not the real consideration for me. I've got some good friends who run a multi-op photo company. I've heard some of the horror stories and from what I can tell, brides can be magnitudes more combative with photogs than even DJs (if you can believe that). Brides seem to expect photogs to transform them into something they're most often not; beautiful. And as if that's not bad enough, pics are what hangs around for 20-30 years so if they have a bad impression of the service, wow, can they be vindictive. No thank you.

this is coming from someone who made the HORRIBLE mistake of offering this service......DON'T DO IT!!!!

It is so much more than just getting a high end camera and shooting pictures. You need to know all about lighting (not DJ lighting lol).....angles to shoot at, spacing people properly and a ton of other things you will never think of.

And you will need to be able to handle brides AFTER the event as well, wanting re-edits, wanting their photos NOW and a million other things.

I know we have a few very successful photographers on here, and it took them years and years to be successful.

It all boils down to several things. First it is an Art form, I used to represent some big named Corporate Photographers here in Houston who printed most of their work on Cibrachrome. Second you have to have top notch Equipment. Third, you have to know about Lighting, Shadows and angles. Fourth is composition. Fifth in today's Digital age one has to know about retouching and airbrushing. The Clients will judge you on what they have seen previously and what they expect. It helps immensely if the person has formal education in Photography. Pictures should be stunning. Even though a lot of these photos may have been touched up I find this as one of the nice examples of good Photography. plus Drive limos and do Videography on other days not Djing

but my first passion is always Djing period!
