Just curious what do you consider to be:
  • Within Range (you travel before you start charging an additional fee)?
I usually add a charge if travel time is more than an hour.
  • Will Travel (how far you will go and what fees you charge to get you there)?
I've driven as much as 6-hours, but that was for a family memnber, so "cost" was not an issue.
  • Around Town (your average distance to most gigs)?
15 miles or less for 90% of gigs.
I am asking because I get a lot of leads from GigMasters.com for events in cities about 100 miles away where I know DJ services exist, so I am trying to determine if it is worth submitting a quote.

You may find those "outside the area" gigs to be better.
You are bound to be seen as different from the typical DJ in that area.

One hundred miles is usually the max if we go 100 miles its a minimum of 100 dollars maybe more depending on hours. We live in the valley so mountains or ocean areas will be charged more. Yosemite is about 70 miles away but takes about 3 hours to get to the basin. We have worked at the Awahnee as well. We charge a pain in the ass fee there. )
