I got tired of having to adjust some of my Mic Stands up and down for my Karaoke Singers with different heights. The Mic Stand I was using was a Chrome Post with the regular Round Black Metal Base and a hand screw adjust midway down the pole.
For the past couple weeks I have been using this: If you have several, it is stackable. What I like about it is that it has a hand held Clutch. Grab, Press and up or down you go. Release and it is securely in place. it is the

If anyone happens to buy the K&M Stand and wants to protect the Black Pole from scratching during transport, go to Lowes and buy this for under $2.00 Pipe Insulation Foam 1/2" . Remove the sticky Glue and cut to length. Place a Wine Bottle Cloth Bag over the top and you are good to go. I use an Ultimate Mini Boom on the top Of my Stand so the Cloth Bag protects that too.

Every audio snake we use with the Production Company
has a purple Chivas Regal bag covering the XLR ends.

Crown Royal Bags are great too however the Wine Bags are longer. So it will depend on what you are covering. Its like Condoms, they come in different sizes.

Good call on the pipe insulation. I use it on lots of stuff (takes a bit of the reverb-ring out of drum hardware, too!).

Also, the Crown Royal bag is a classic! I've got one set of my C1000S' in one (with clips and foam screens, all wrapped in some bubble wrap); this particular set came without boxes and there was the bag, just perfect...
