    Back from Disney

I was at Disney World last week. My wife wanted to go with the kids, yea our kids are grown. She’s been having a tough time taking care of her Mom. But she picks the time when the kids are out of school so that means it’s going to be crowded with lines. Now I knew Disney was expensive, maybe we...

Playlist & Game ideas for overnight teen lockin

Man, I’m tried just reading it. I’m happy everything went great. 12+hrs plus is a long day. The one I did I only worked from 12-4am then I was out. I just finished 4 straight days at Disney so I am in pain too, hopefully I will get a goodnights sleep too.

I just ordered some new speakers.

Buy first then ask for input? Unless you have a very knowledge salesperson I would think it would be better to ask for input discuss then purchase. It took me months to select my new speakers even after going to a couple of speakers shootouts and hearing 30+ different speakers.

    Earthquake in the Northeast

You got to go when the weather is good, never in the cold or rain. Everyone which goes regularly tailgates. Bring chairs, dinner, drinks and snacks. We never sit in the car. We also used to bring a tent for the kids and get there 2 hrs early. I would go to one of the two Drive-Ins Mike in PA. One...

    Earthquake in the Northeast

I’m talking about the Valley Stream Drive-In which is now a multiplex and a mall. That’s where I saw a planet of the apes in the 60s. I can’t remember when it closed but I would say early 70s. The Westbury drive-in was the one with the two screens, I used to take my daughter there so that one...

    Earthquake in the Northeast

I remember it well, I went to probably one of the last standalone theaters in Valley Stream to see earthquake in senaround. I believe they did two other movies, Battlestar Galactica and a World War II movie, but I never saw those two in a theater. Another theater which was a couple of blocks...

    Earthquake in the Northeast

Well, guys you don’t have to worry about me moving to the West Coast now. I may visit but aren’t ever moving there, can’t imagine a big one. A friend of mine moved back to the East coast years ago. Told me the story how an earthquake threw him out of bed and stuff went flying off the shelves. I...

    94 and still going

Here you go Mix, you have 30+ years to go. You can bet he isn’t moving any heavy stuff. You have to plan ahead and think smart. This is somewhere in Babylon, NY not to far from me. I hope I am still moving that well when I am in my 90s View...

    Earthquake in the Northeast

Yeah, just felt the earthquake. I thought it was a truck going by or someone doing jumping jacks, but turned out to be a 4.8 earthquake. My niece felt it, and she’s down by DC. And of course I’m supposed to be going into New York City today. Sitting here watching the news making sure everything...

    Backup equipment

You should have enough to make sure you can finish the event. I find what I consider a risk is the laptop. So I always have 2 running and a backup. Laptops can have 2 sources of issues, software & hardware. That being said issues usually don’t happen at events but I have hard drives fail and...

Sam Ash Closing over 10+ stores

Guitar Center, sorry. I’m going go past the Sam Ash NYC store on 34th st this weekend on the way to the NY Autoshow. I’ll see if it’s still open.

Sam Ash Closing over 10+ stores

You don't see the Brand names Martin and High End. Ok? I said nothing about ETC I don't recall seeing them in the 1990s to 2000s

Sam Ash Closing over 10+ stores

It’s actually down the block from Rosevelt field and I think it is closing. Guitar city has a store across the street from Roosevelt Field. I think guitar city is doing better business as I have brought a couple of smaller items from the store. I used to bring my son into guitar city to,play the...

WKRP for those who are in radio

I must’ve missed this episode of WKRP. I used to watch the show because I was in college radio while I was in college. My favorite episode is the turkey drop one, I watch it every November.. This episode I don’t remember seeing but it has a very interesting and funny backstory...

What are your thoughts on Yorkville NX 25 12" speakers?

Told before I did backyard parties (not for seniors) with one speaker on a stand and brought my kids in the cars and a Photobook. I leave the second speaker in trunk. I actually have a smaller Denon 3000 controller I use for stuff like at and which I keep in the house. For events which they are...

Well a good reason to understand social media

TikTok was at one of the big trade shows in NYC I was at. It’s big business. My kids are on TikTok all the time and they are in the 20 to 40 yr age group. In my networking groups I speak with Social Media experts and they might as well be speaking to me in another language. In some cases, it may...

Well a good reason to understand social media

Something came up on Instagram about me for their mobile Mondays feature back in February. I had no idea it was posted over a month ago. Well, I guess you do need to know a little bit about social media. Which, evidently I don’t. I use Facebook and I think I have Twitter and Instagram accounts...

Looks like my van was stolen.

Usually, the company that offers you their DJ liability insurance can also offer you insurance on the equipment. Djtasco also mentioned another route. I thought I’ve heard of some using an umbrella policy which they pay to also insure their business. You should talk to your insurance agent. I...

Looks like my van was stolen.

Sorry to say never going to happen, I gave him an option for under 2K and even that likely won’t happen unless someone gives him the money. Without a profitable series of jobs coming in 2K to 5K would seem like a mountain to climb. And the van still needs to be fixed which will have a...

Looks like my van was stolen.

Yes, whomever stolen the van knew the equipment was in there. They needed the van to move it all. Very like they knew you were a DJ too. I can’t believe you left that much equipment in a van on the street and you had stuff stolen before or heard about stuff stolen from cars. Now is the time to...

Sam Ash Closing over 10+ stores

Sam Ash a large music retailer is closing a bunch of stores. I guess competition from Guitar City and online sales hurt business. And all this comes near their 100th anniversary. My father used to take me to Sam Ash when he would get his instruments serviced. I used to go there to buy sheet...

Looks like my van was stolen.

You only need 2 decent 12” powered speakers and 2 stands and you will be up and running. Add a controller which if you were still using the Denon it was time for an update. If you had left your laptop in your vehicle well I wouldn’t have any words that. Later you can add some compact subs later...
  23. adj2ent

Looks like my van was stolen.

Just like I thought they used it for the crime and dump it. Understand this, they know you are a DJ and put/leave equipment in the van. They might even know where you live already. They will definitely be keeping an eye on the van and they may even visit your home at a later date. You better...

    When I started djing

I don’t think any of us had talent when we started. I know in the 70s we were trying to figure it all out and it wasn’t like you could go to the Internet and get information. I know we would look at what the other DJs who were just starting out were doing in many cases we were all at the same...

Looks like my van was stolen.

If you have a loan hopefully there is enough to payoff the loan as likely they don’t pay what you think they would. The equipment will likely be a lost unless you have it insured, maybe but I don’t think so the insurance will cover a little of what was in the vehicle. Personally I’d consider it...
