My other thread on the Tragically Hip made me thing that it might be interesting to share Canadian music that is lesser known in the USA. Everyone has heard of the big ones...Rush, Bryan Adams, Celine Dion, The Guess Who, etc. but there are many great Canadian bands that due to contracts etc that never got heard below the 49th. I don't expect that anyone will be playing this stuff at your dances but it may be some cool listening stuff

I'll start it off wtih one of the best 3 piece bands I ever seen Triumph. They were a real rock and roll band with the best light show I've ever seen to this day. They had lazers back in the mid 80's. They are broken up now but they all still perform as solo acts. The lead singer Rick Emmitt is big in to Jazz the last few years

Old age? ;)

These guys are from Kitchener Ontario. They had several big hits in Canada back in the 80's and early 90's. They did a lot of touring in the US with some of the biggest bands of the day I don't think they ever had a US hit though. They were one of those bands that became owned by the record companies. They were advanced a ton of money to make a video or two and it almost bankrupted them.

As a side note a friend of mine was the original lead guitarist for one gig with these guys. He quit to join a touring country band thinking Helix would never make it lol
