I don't know how to take the portable HD I already have and load up the new one with the stuff from the other HD. It's been a long time since I was shown how to do it. I need someone to take me step by step to get it done. Please don't just assume I know and leave me hanging. I need to be told step by step how to do it. Thanks for anyone willing to help this old man.

You plug them both into different USB ports of the same computer. They will be assigned different drive letters (maybe E and F for example). The new one will have no files when you view it in File Explorer. Copy the contents of the one that has files to the one that doesn't. You can drag and drop.

Some day, I'm going to create software so when I need to search for something, like how to copy stuff, I can just put my question into the search motor and the website with the answer will come up.

I'll call it Scoogle.

Why???... when you can just go to a DJ forum and ask? There's at least one guy here who knows everything about everything.[emoji1]

So what you're saying is you have to combine the files from your old preloaded Craigslist drive with the ones on your new preloaded Craigslist drive?

;)

Did I stutter when I answered on the other board?

That's hilarious! I just went to the other place and read your response to the SAME question, and it was VERY similar to mine. I guess now he either knows you were telling the truth, or thinks we're both part of an evil conspiracy to deceive technically challenged old DJ's about how to copy data from one portable hard drive to another!

In computer terms, this is like asking how to put gas in your car. You probably have no business operating a vehicle.

I was thinking the same thing. How do you do a show with a computer with having no idea how to Use the most basic Windows functions?

Being a 'computer guy', I know alot of people that can't do what we consider 'basic Windows functions'.

Of course... but do those people get paid to provide a computer-based service? :p:

I think they're ready to take the "Blue Pill" ...

On your computer, using the windows based explorer, highlight the source drive (the drive you wish to copy) root directory. Use keyboard combination of CTL-A then CTL-C. Open new explorer window to the target drive (the drive which will contain the copied files) root directory. Use the key combination of CTL-V.

Go have a couple of beers or some other adult beverage or three.

... or... Find a 12 or 13 year old and ask him/her to do it for you.[emoji1]
