Anyone have any experience with them? I just ordered a new one for $120.00 to put in my live sound rack that Steve has been helping me peice together.

I bought the following to build a small live sound/ceremony rig:

Oddyssey Rack 10ru top (slant) by 4 ru bottom, with 17" glide computer shelf
Yamaha MG12XU Mixer
DBX AFS224 Feedback Destroyer (thanks Steve for a like new, used item)
Furman 8 plug 1ru power strip
2 ru rack sliding keyboard tray with mouse pad (for Mix Track Edge and mouse)
Mix Track Edge

I was unable after hours of testing to get VDJ LE, PRO7 or PRO8 to do what I wanted it to do going through the Yamaha mixer. I wanted to use the Yamaha as a back up or for small events where I have a live sound requirment and still want additional ability to DJ/Mix for the crowd.

If you go to the USB input on the Yamaha mixer you can send music by VDJ, but all actions have to be sent via mouse and keyboard to the on screen controller for VDJ, not user freindly while playing live.

If I go in to VDJ and specify 2 channel mixer and select headphone/soundcard out to do a split mono signal (3.5 to split pair of mono 1/4 TRS) and run them to two channels on the Yamaha mixer it sounds great, unless you have both decks on VDJ playing music, then I get bleed over between the channels. You can hear the other deck/sound muffeled in the background.

I bought the Mix Track Edge so I can run all the sound from VDJ to the Mix Track and use the output cable with 3.5 to RCA on a stereo input on the Yamaha mixer and do all the DJ mixing on the Mix Track.

If anyone has any expereince with VDJ and a live sound mixer like the Yamaha I have and can help me make it work I would be very thankfull. I still have a use for the Mix Track in home studio.

Thanks Ray J. the DJ

The little, cute Mix Track Edge turned my live sound mixer case into a perfect DJ set up. It is easy to use with any version of VDJ. One draw back is it does not have VU meters, so it takes a little time to set up a perfect gain structure.

I set up the gain structure on my computer, VDJ and set the master volume and the channel fadders on the Mix Tarck Edge; then set up the gain structure on the two channels I went into on my Yamaha MG12XU mixer, last I set up the master fadder on my Yamaha mixer.

I was really worried about the final sound with so many devices and fadders in the gain structure, but in the end the final sound quality was better than my Mix Track Expresses. I am guessing it is the fact that I have multiple preamps in the circuit and the Yamaha Mixer is a much better sonic device.

With the final sound clarity, I am guessing I got the gain structure pretty close. I would recommend this little controller to anyone as an add on or back up.
