Unique perspective, for sure! I did definitely "lol," but when you think about it, with the straps, maybe a nice piece of plywood on the "tray stand"/tripod side, it could work pretty well (don't worry, I'm not doing it!)...

I'm guessing that he forgot to bring the sub poles, and had to improvise.
(actually, I hoping that's the reason he did it)
(no, actually, there is NO reason to do this. Ever)

Ha. When I was in high school, I started my illustrious DJ and musical career. We started a h.s. closed-circuit radio station with the help of the school a/v guy. Maintenance hung some speakers in the cafeteria, and they seemed pretty solidly mounted; chains and everything... Until one day, don't know what we were playing... Something with significant low end to rattle one of those boys out-of-place. I don't know, but that speaker went flying and did the "pit and the pendulum" thing, and thankfully, mercifully, miraculously didn't take someone's head off, but it was really close...

wtf you got to be kidding me, my guess is they never had sub poles cause who carries around tie down straps with them

It looks like it might be a school concert environment (?), so maybe the custodial staff?? That's the kind of thing some band directors I know would do.

He did it because a double 15" with horn does not come with the pole mount on the bottom.

Oh, Rick is right. I thought it was a school, when I saw the choir risers, but now that I see the flag, yup-- church.

MAYBE...those speaker weren't meant to be on a pole...
so it didn't have the pole mount cup on the bottom.
Otherwise, I can't figure out how you can be so dumb to use the stand WRONG...
but be so smart that you did a bang up job with the ratchet strap.
