I bought it back in 2007...... didn't really like it...... I just upgraded to the newest version ( still free  )..... but no tutorials that I have found...... I plan to hit their forums, and possibly youtube, but I still can't figure out where automix is, or even how to keep the playlist open to add songs ( and autoplay )

How long should it take to learn it?

I do think I understand beat matching already, but I can't figure out it it will auto mix that way. Or even just mix with a button...... the way I am doing it sucks......

It's not that bad. Automix is done in only one deck letting you use the other one to look for a version of another song, etc. VDJ can do smart mixing (Beatmatch) but you need to do some other stuff. I'm not going deep into it as I'm getting ready for major eye surgery on Thursday and need to get some more paperwork and legal stuff done ;). Hope I can help you once I'm back ;)

Papa I toyed with it a few years back and wound up having to use it back in December in a bit of an emergency situation. It took me about 15 minutes to figure out enough that I could do a successful event with it. You used to use Rockit I don't think you will have big issues they are similar from what I remember of Rockit

Here's some tutorials right from the horses mouth

I love Virtual DJ and use it on all of my systems. at the bottom right of the software is the window where you build your playlist. in the top left hand corner of THAT box there is a little circle with a lightning bolt in the middle. You click on that circle to activate automix. Then there is a little white button you can click underneath the lightning bolt that opens up a menu when you click it - then click on the option for " Automix type ". When i use this feature, i typically use the " Fade ( remove intro/outro )" option. Seems to work the best for me. Just let me know if ya need help with anything!

When you installed the program, it also installed the manual. Read it. Then go to the vids.

VDJ is very intuitive but, it uses a lot of very small icons and some layered functions to minimize clutter. If you are typically used to a menu system then that is what likely intimidates you. For example, you usually won't find an "eject" button on either deck but if you right click and hold on the pause button the deck is unloaded. (It would be nice if you could drag a track out of the deck the same way you drag it in - but, I digress. :))

The auto-mix icon won't work unless there is actually something in your playlist to be played. Playback (default) begins with the first or current track as soon as you turn it on.
