The price is so good that I am considering getting another as a backup that I would mount in the same box... Maybe even use both if I had to because the HD is only 40gb.

Anybody do this?

No need for 2 in the same system.

I have about 8,500 songs on my internal HD & plenty of room for more.
If I needed to have several thousand more songs, (doubtful) I'd put it on a thumb drive.

I have 2 HD2500s, one in each of my 2 DJ systems (ceremony & reception setups)

It is possible to replace the 40 Gig hard drive with a 100GB

But better yet, using an external hard drive enables you to bring your library into your house and update, edit etc without bringing your rack inside

Thanks, Bill... mine is still unopened. I imagine I will have less songs than you as I have all my songs encoded at 320 CBR....

Papa,

Yes, I have two in my rack and I would strongly suggest having two in a rack. What if all of a sudden one goes black? It happened to me last June 7 at an event and I was glad that I had my second one installed, ready to go and we were back up again in less than :30. I would and do use an external off of both of them and don't use the internal that much at all. I believe that you void the warranty if you replace the 40gb internal with anything else.

Mitch,

What was the cause of the failure? Did the HD fail or was it something else? Did you get it fixed? I'd like to hear the details of this failure. I'm sure other new-owners would too.

Hey there 2500 users -

FYI - there is a reset that can be done w/o having to access the on/off switch (which probably will be buried in your rack).

It's a 4-button press & hold for 3-seconds & the unit resets, if it would lock-up.

Now to remember what they are..... ;)

I always use 4 decks myself I have a Denon 6000 Dual CD Player and a Cortex HD-3000 as my main rig I like having 4 decks always loaded

Wes,

The whole unit failed and completely blacked out (screen). When I sent it in to Denon for repair they couldn't tell me what was wrong with it. They updated the HD and the firmware and the unit has worked fine ever since. Wish I had more answers for you.

Mitch

Papa,

I wouldn't downplay 4 units either - I do that currently with my Macbook & Traktor Pro...2 channels there & the Denon 2500 being the other 2...

If I wanted to push it, I could say I have 8 available decks - 2 CD with the Denon & Traktor Pro has a 3rd & 4th player available (if I wanted to use that feature).

Now how often do I use this? Not often, but having that 3rd/4th player available is sometimes a nice luxury.

Cheers,

Joe

At 299.00 it wouldn't hurt to roll with 2 of the Denon units in a rack. Most DJ's that are seriously into beat mixing do it. My new set up is a Pioneer MEP 7000 and a Denon 9000 hooked up to a Rane MP44.

I just received my second 2500. I use one unit and a laptop in each rack. This way I can be on the internet fulfilling requests and using the 2500 at the same time. One unit shuts down the other is running. I plan on using my second as a backup and for smaller gigs. I'm also thinking about the bubble party gigs. A second unit would be sweet for that use. I also run external HD's on both units as well.

No, don't do it! Get a $249 netbook. Trust me on that!

I've been running a 2500 and a laptop for over 3 years now. For me it's the best way. In fact I'm on the laptop now and my 2500 is providing the music. I've got the auto on on PCDJ Red while on the internet and with no problem. I don't think the netbook would give me enough ram to do everything. And I do own a netbook.

Trust me on this.. you do not want tens of thousands of bubbles all over your nice equipment. You don't get as pissed when it is a $249 netbook. I did 58 of the bubble parties this year and your gear gets COVERED in bubbles.
