I happen to stumble across an on line search engine and a Local DJ Service is saying they've been entertaining since 1986. They haven't been around since '86! Now the DJs have, maybe. But their company as a name only formed a few years ago.

Yes, it's deceiving and wrong information.

WWYD??

I agree with Rick, but you can be proactive and go one step further:

In the process of "Minding Your Own Business": have your existing customers write online reviews for your company. All it takes is a write-up in "Yelp", "City Search", "Insider Pages," "Merchant Circle", or whatever's big in your town (local TV station promo, like KCRA Channel 3 in Sacramento).

Build your OWN reputation, and forget about these other guys!

Ahh Grasshopper one should worry more about ones own garden and less about neighbor's (think that cool blind guy from Kung -Fu)

I have to agree,,,, that is a small deal.... Try not to worry about the small stuff......I usually tell people I've been in business LESS time than I really have,,,, I don't want it to make me sound older than I am when I COULD say, In Business For 25 years"..... But I don't usually

I've always gotten a kick out of 24 year old DJs with 15 years experience, and 10 year veterans with a lifetime total of 49 events.

Zactly...

I myself, make a claim or two that is a "bit" embellished. It's what people do when they advertise. Let it go.

LOL.... I was DJing in the 1980's and I tell people that. What I don't say, unless the questions get asked, is that I took a "little sabbatical".... from 1992 - 2005....

Hey, I took a break from 1994 to 2001. I started in 1983. I tell them that if they ask.

WOW! Really? An advertisement that wasn't 100% truthful? Right. Next thing you'll tell me is that there's no Tooth Fairy......:sqwink:

I vaguely remember a DJ company selling franchises advertising as New Jersey's biggest and most well known company. Only problem was that I've lived and worked here all of my life, and so have many of the network of DJs and Karaoke Hosts that I associate with. Can you guess? Yup- No one has ever heard of them, including some of their own REFERENCES.

Ya gotta love it. Don't worry about the ad. It's what is delivered that counts.

so if folks like your Bose dont slam the guy using JBL's?

Who is slamming JBL owners? I own them. I like them. But the average bride and groom couldn't care less... Are you referencing my other post?... or something I am not aware of?
